Community Food Systems- considering the opportunities and risk, while enhancing communities and businesses

Summary
This presentation will review a new approach to food systems community and business development. The Community Food Systems Program at Iowa State University is a multi-disciplinary, multi-phase program that partners with communities to develop and design place-based food systems with a collective decision making approach. The presentation will explain that approach, and walk through practical risk management concepts of two projects that have developed from this program. The discussion will include both urban and rural communities, and will highlight potential collaborations, project ideas, and metrics to utilize in your work.
