Summary

Census data from the 2018 Census of Agriculture (NASS) show that Puerto Rico has 8,230 farmers, with an average market value of sales totaling $485.05 million. However, 67% of these farmers report having less than $10K in sales. One significant challenge faced by farmers in Puerto Rico is marketing. This project aims to address this gap through non-formal education. We delivered 21 hours of marketing training, covering topics such as the marketing mix, risk management, consumer behavior, promotional strategies, product and price strategies, value-added products, and marketing plans. The training was conducted online, reaching an average of 30 participants per topic. To assess the effectiveness of the program, participants were asked to complete questionnaires, pre- and post-tests, as well as short quizzes. This poster will present the results and analyze whether participants gained knowledge, as well as evaluate the impact of the workshops on their farms and agribusinesses.
