Managing for Today and Tomorrow: Business, Estate, and Retirement Planning for Farm and Ranch Women

Summary
Managing for Today and Tomorrow is a 15-hour course for women to help them understand and initiate the farm or ranch transition planning process. The multi-session course covers business, estate, retirement and succession planning. This educational program encourages the established generation, who often hold the keys of asset and management control, to choose a farm or ranch successor and to communicate transition plans with family members or other partners. The overall goal of the program is more timely and comprehensive transition planning that will lead to greater opportunities for beginning farmers.
The poster will cover the project justification, approach to training, activities, partners, system outcomes, and participant outcomes. The new curricula will be displayed as well. The new course is a result of multi-state partnerships among Annie´s Project educators and Farm Credit Associations. It was developed through a USDA NIFA Beginning Farmer and Rancher Development Program.
The ANNIES leadership is pleased to share this example of a new Annie’s Project Level II program that goes more in-depth into a narrower range of risk management topics.
