This budget is a for a small-scale apiculture farm with 25 hives producing, on average, 500 quarts of honey per year. The budget assumes a high mortality rate of bees, which is common in recent years. The producer is assumed to be sufficiently skilled to re-colonize dead hives with bees from living hives. The producer is also assumed to belong to an apiculture association which allows members to use small-scale honey extraction and bottling equipment at a nominal fee.
